Its leaves resemble buckwheat, and it grows in damp places. Southern Capital Rhapsody (Nandu Fu) by Zhang Heng mentions that its gardens contain smartweed, ji, and wild ginger. It is also the name of a mountain. Records of Kuaiji (Kuaiji Zhi) states: Mount Ji is located six li west of the prefectural city; the King of Yue once harvested ji here.
