Pronounced gou. A type of fish. It resembles a crab and its eggs can be made into a condiment.
Classic of Mountains and Seas Commentary (Shanhaijing Zhu): The horseshoe crab resembles a Huijuan cap in shape, is dark blue-black in color, has twelve feet, and grows to five or six feet in length. It looks like a crab, and the female often carries the male on its back; when fishermen catch one, they are sure to get a pair. The eggs resemble hemp seeds, and people in the south use them to make a condiment.
