According to the Compilation of Characters (Leipian), in the regions of Hangzhou and Yuezhou, the stomach of a fish is called gu.
Additionally, according to the Correct Character Guide (Zhengzitong), the yellow gu is a fish shaped like a whitefish, measuring less than one foot in length and no more than one inch in width. Its body is flat, its scales are fine, and it has a high volume of entrails and abdominal fat. Southerners mistakenly refer to it as yellow aunt (huanggu), while northerners mistakenly refer to it as yellow bone fish (huanggu yu).
