Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun): Pronounced feng (rising tone). Same as the character for sew. To sew clothing with needle and thread. Also used interchangeably with the character for encounter. In the Robber Zhi chapter of the Book of Master Zhuang (Zhuangzi): Wearing loose robes and shallow belts. Commentary: Wide sleeves and large robes. Also used interchangeably with the character for hold. Meaning to present or offer. In the Biographies of Diviners by Tortoise and Milfoil in the Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji): Holding the stalks to determine the numbers, burning the tortoise shell to observe the omens. Commentary: Holding refers to taking something in both hands and separating them to count. Also, according to the Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun) and the Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): Pronounced feng. Also the same as the character for sew.
