Identical to Di. In the Huainan Masters (Huainanzi), Sayings from the Forest (Shuolin Xun), it is stated that the spikes of the Di plant resemble cotton floss, but they cannot be used as cotton. The commentary notes that Di is the same as the Di plant, which is what is referred to as reed catkin floss. According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it is written as Di. In the Commentary on the Reeds and Rushes in the Book of Changes (Yijing), it is identified as Di.
