Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), Biography of the Zhao House: A hat pushed back and stitches appearing. Commentary: Xu Guang states that the Strategies of the Warring States (Zhanguo Ce) uses the word for sewing. It is also an alternative term for stitching. Ancient characters were frequently used as loan characters, thus it is written here as stitches. This refers to the coarseness or clumsiness of the needlework.
Also, from the Xunzi, Non-Physiognomy chapter: Slowness and urgency, stretching and contracting. Commentary: This means the same as to bend and to stretch.
