Wei Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Feather (yǔ) Character: 翄 Kangxi strokes: 10 Page 955, Entry 27 Guangyun (Comprehensive Rhymes), Jiyun (Combined Rhymes), and Yunhui (Collection of Rhymes) state the pronunciation is chi. Shuowen Jiezi (Explanation of Graphs and Analysis of Characters) defines it as wings. Guangyun states that chichi describes the appearance of flying. History of the Former Han (Qian Hanshu), Record on Rites and Music: Banners and streamers flutter like wings gathering and circling. Commentary by Wen Ying: Dancers move their bodies with lightness and agility, as if birds were circling in flight and then alighting in pairs. Also, according to Guangyun, pronounced qi, and Jiyun, pronounced qi, the meaning is the same.
