According to Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), it refers to wood floating in water. According to Record of Investigations (Bowuzhi), the celestial raft (cha) encroached upon the constellations of the Ox and the Dipper. According to Record of Gleanings (Shiyiji), in the time of Yao, a giant raft floated on the Western Sea; it circled the heavens once every twelve years, known as the moon-piercing raft.
