According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced po. According to Explanation of Script and Explanation of Names (Shuowen), it is a large bell, akin to the chunyu, used to respond to bells and chime stones. It is hung with two metal rings, and when music is played, the drum and the bo respond to it. As stated in the Book of Etiquette and Ceremonial (Yili), in the Great Archery Ritual: To the south is the bo. The commentary states: The bo is like a bell but larger; in performing music, the drum and the bo serve as the tempo.
Also a farming implement. It is the same as the bo (bo). According to Explanation of Names (Shiming): The bo is also a type of hoe. Bo means to press.
According to Extensive Rhymes (Guangyun), it is pronounced bo. According to Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced bo. According to Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), it is a bell with a circular top used in the twelve earthly branches.
