In the Jade Chapter (Yupian), it refers to a horse with an impure color.
In the Erya (Erya: Explanation of Domestic Animals), it states that a horse with red and white mixed colors is called bo.
In the Book of Changes (Yijing: Explanation of the Trigrams), it states that the Qian trigram symbolizes a bo horse.
In the Book of Odes (Shijing: Bin Wind), it mentions the yellow and white horses known as huang and the red and white ones known as bo. The commentary explains that yellow and white are called huang, and red and white are called bo.
In the Erya (Erya: Explanation of Trees), it states that bo is a red plum. The sub-commentary explains that red-colored plum fruit is called bo.
In common parlance, it refers to things that are mixed or heterogeneous. When clouds and fog disperse, it is called jiebo.
