Wu Collection, Lower Volume Radical: Cave (xué) 窀; Kangxi strokes: 9; Page 863, Entry 20 Pronounced zhūn. Zhūnxī refers to the burial of a coffin. Discussion of Writing (Shuowen Jiezi) defines it as a grand burial. The Commentary on Zuo (Zuozhuan), Thirteenth Year of Duke Xiang, records matters of zhūnxī. The annotation states: zhūn means deep or grand; xī means night. Deep night is like the eternal night. Another interpretation states that deep burial is called zhūn. Pronounced tún. It means to bury. It may also refer to the appearance of firelight within a cave. Pronounced zhuàn. It shares the same meaning.
