It is the name of an ancient state. According to Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen Jiezi), it refers to a feudal state south of the Han River. The Zuo Zhuan (Zuo Zhuan), under Duke Huan, year 11, records: 'The people of Yun stationed troops at Púsāo.' The commentary states that the state of Yun was located southeast of Yunshe County in Jiangxia Commandery, where the ruins of Yun City are found. It also refers to a place in the state of Wei. The Zuo Zhuan, under Duke Ai, year 11, records: 'Grand Uncle Ji of Wei passed away and was buried in Yun.' It is also a surname. Sometimes also written in a simplified variant form.
