According to the Bencao (Compendium of Materia Medica), one type is called the field mouse. Another type is called the mole-rat. Another type is called the hidden mouse. According to Li Shizhen, the field mouse crawls beneath the ground and is capable of piling up soil to form small mounds, which is how it acquired these names.
