Chou Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Earth (tǔ) Character: Xi Kangxi Stroke Count: 17 Page 241, Entry 05 According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), this is the same as the character for an imperial seal (xi). The character represents the management of land, hence the radical for earth. In the small seal script, it is written with the radical for jade. See the note under the character for imperial seal (xi) in the Jade (yù) radical section. Also used as a personal name. The younger brother of Ji was named Taixi. Taixi was the father of Shujun, as recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing). Furthermore, in the History of the Roads (Lushi), specifically the section on distinguishing similar names, it is noted that Shujun is identified as the son of Ji. There is suspicion that the claim of him being the younger brother of Ji is incorrect.
