In the Rhapsody on the Master of Emptiness (Zixu fu) by Sima Xiangru, it says floating in Boxie. The commentary notes that water that is interrupted is called xie. Also, liaoxie is the name of a small stream. In the Rhapsody on the Western Capital (Xijing fu) by Zhang Heng, it mentions pulling out the liaoxie. Additionally, according to the Classified Compendium (Leipian), one theory suggests that xie means mountain valley.
