Yunhui: The character for learn (xue) was originally written as this character in the Shuowen Jiezi. Today, it is pronounced xiao, while the character for school (xuexiao) is written only as learn (xue). Note that in the ancient text of the Book of Documents, the character for learn (xue) is always written as this character. The Lishi (Interpretations of Clerical Script) mentions Gao Biao as a master of this character. Also, to reach fifty and teach is the same as the character for learn (xue). It was originally in the Teach radical in the Shuowen Jiezi, but it is now combined here.
