Pronounced xing
According to the Expanded Rhymes (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), and Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui), the pronunciation is xing. According to the Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), the pronunciation is xing.
According to the Sea of Documents (Pianhai), the term pingxing refers to a bamboo mat used to shade a carriage compartment, specifically the side panels of a carriage. It is also written in a variant form (pingxing).
The Biography of Kong Xun (Kong Xun Zhuan) records: The position of Bieja (an official title) formerly came with a pingxing, and the governor wished to remove it. Kong Xun stated: The position of Bieja may be removed, but the pingxing may not.
Additionally, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is also pronounced sheng. The meaning is the same.
