According to the Extensive Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced ge. It is the name of a river. It is the same as the character guo. The Commentary on Fugou from the Book of Han (Hanshu), Geographical Treatise, states: The source of the Guo River connects to the Langtang Canal and flows eastward to Xiang entering the sea.
Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced gua. It has the same meaning.
Also, according to the Extensive Rhymes (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced wo. It refers to a water current. The Erya (Erya), Explanation of Water, defines wo as a swirling and circling river. The commentary explains it as a rotating water current.
It is also used as a surname. The Record of Decisions in the Three Prefectures (Sanfu Juelu) records a Governor of Fufeng named Wo Shang.
