Pronounced guī. The hole in a steaming pot.
Verses of Chu (Chuci): Jade tokens mixed with the steaming pot hole.
Commentary: The steaming pot hole is a hole in the earth. A steaming pot is an earthenware vessel. A guī is the rim of a steaming pot.
Also pronounced wā. Also pronounced xié. The meaning is the same. Sometimes written in a variant form.
Also pronounced guī (level tone). Guīliáo, the appearance of being deep and distant.
Song Yu: High Tang Rhapsody (Gaotang fu): Deep and distant, dark and obscure, unable to see the bottom.
Commentary: The appearance of being deep and distant. Sometimes written as wā. Equivalent to the character meaning a depression or hollow.
