Pronounced tuo. According to the Analytical Dictionary of Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), this refers to an elongated container within the railing of a carriage. Also, any object that is narrow and long is called tuo. In the Approaching Elegance (Erya), it is noted as being small and elongated. In the commentary on the Explanation of Animals (Shishou zhu), the horns of the wild goat are described as elongated. In the Verses of Chu (Chuchici), the question asks how much the north-south alignment is elongated.
An object that is round and long is also called tuo. In the History of the Former Han (Qianhan shu), the Account of Food and Money (Shihuo zhi) mentions that a third type was made smaller and elongated, with a turtle-shell pattern valued at three hundred.
Pronounced duo. The term ke tuo refers to the end of a piece of wood that is uneven or shaky. In the Great Mystery (Taixuan jing) by Yangzi, it is written that when the soil is not balanced, the wood is uneven and shaky.
Pronounced tuo. Bi gu is the name of a vessel.
