According to Orthography of Rhymes (Zhengyun), pronounced si. Egret (lusi). Commentary on Explaining Birds (Shining Bird) in the Erh Ya (Erya): The white egret is known as lusi in common parlance; the feathers on its head resemble silk threads. Classic of Birds (Qinjing): When the egret is at rest, its feathers lie flat. Sea Records (Hailu) states: It is also called silk-wearer; later generations added the bird radical. Also according to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced zi. The meaning is the same.
