Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and Rhyme Convergence (Yunhui) both provide the fanqie pronunciation chū xiá. Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun) provides the fanqie pronunciation chū jiá. According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), chà refers to a pillar. The Supplemented Rhymes (Zengyun) states that it also refers to a Buddhist monastery. It is further explained as a pillar erected upon a tomb that contains sarira relics within, which is also called a chà. Wang Jin’s Toutuo Temple (Toutuo Si) describes arranged Buddhist pagodas that are visible from one another. The annotation states that arranged pillars (lièchà) refers to Buddhist pagodas. Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) notes that it is sometimes written in a variant form.
