According to the Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), pronounced shuang. According to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the Rhyme Assembly (Yunhui), and the Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), pronounced shuang. The pronunciation is the same as the word for frost. A widow is called shuang. From the Eulogy for the Prince of Qinghe by Cui Yuan: Kind to the women and widows. Furthermore, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced shuang (falling-rising tone). The meaning is the same.
Textual research: In the Eulogy for the Prince of Qinghe by Cui Yuan, the text reads kind to the women and widows. Note: The Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) refers to the character for women as Cui Ziyu, who is Cui Yuan. Wang Yuan has been corrected to Cui Yuan.
