In the Zuo Tradition (Zuo Zhuan), under the twenty-first year of Duke Zhao, the armies of Qi and Song defeated the army of Wu at Hongkou and captured two Wu commanders, Prince Kuqian and Yanzhou Yuan. According to the phonetic annotations in the Classic Explanations (Jingdian Shiwen), the character is pronounced guhan. The Sea of Characters (Pianhai) incorrectly writes it as a different form.
