It is the name of a river located in Henan Commandery. During the Jin Dynasty, Huan Wen was enfeoffed as the Marquis of Qiangchuan. According to General Criticisms (Tongya), Shaqiang is the collective name for the Tao River and the Qiang River. The Tao River originates in the northeast of Mount Qiangtai, and that section of the river is referred to as the Qiang River. The characters for qiang and qiang are interchangeable.
