Biography of Du Zhou in the History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu) says: Affairs are pressed upon based on the momentum of their collapse.
Commentary: When a crime is defeated, it is then flicked or struck (critiqued); the writings of Su Qin contain this method.
Biography of Yang Qiao in the Book of Tang (Tang Shu) states: His intent was not to engage in acts of critique or striking.
Also pronounced beng.
Erya (Approaching Elegance), section on interpretation of ancient terms, states: Bi, pin, and peng mean to cause or to send. It also means to follow.
Yang Xiong, in Anti-Li Sao (Fan Sao), states: Using the male dove to act as a go-between. It is identical to the character pin. Sometimes written in a variant form (bang).
