Xu Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Mound (fù) The character 隦 Kangxi strokes: 21 Page 1360, Entry 40 In Pianhai (Piānhǎi), the pronunciation is pǔ mǐ qiè, similar to "pǐ". 隦堄 refers to a low wall on a city wall (nǚqiáng). Also in Pianhai (Piānhǎi), the pronunciation is bì zhī qiè, similar to "pí". The meaning is the same. According to Shuowen Jiezi (Shuōwén Jiězì), it was originally written as 陴倪, also as 俾倪, with three pronunciations in the even tone (píngshēng) but none in the rising tone (shǎngshēng). Only Jiyun (Jíyùn) writes it as 堄, with the pronunciation bǔ lǐ qiè. Pianhai (Piānhǎi)'s annotation of 隦 as pǔ mǐ qiè should be the same as "pǐ". Its pronunciation bì zhī qiè, however, is the same as 陴.
