According to the Broad Rimes (Guangyun), nong is an expression of anger, appearing in the Forest of Characters (Zilin). Furthermore, in the Master Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals (Lüshi Chunqiu), it says sweet and not nong. The Jade Chapter (Yupian) cites this as xuan, meaning sweet food.
