According to the Tang Rhyme (Tangyun) and the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced lan (falling rising tone). The Analytical Dictionary of Characters (Shuowen Jiezi) defines it as the appearance of a haggard face. The Classification of Sounds (Shenglei) defines it as the appearance of a thin face.
Furthermore, according to the Expanded Rhyme (Guangyun), it is pronounced lin (falling rising tone), and according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced lin (falling rising tone). The Expanded Rhyme (Guangyun) defines it as the appearance of a sudden change in facial complexion.
