Name of a river.
According to the Analytical Dictionary of Characters (Shuowen), the river originates from Luju Mountain in Guiyang County, passes through Kuangpu Pass, and becomes the Gui River.
According to the Commentary on the Classic of Waterways (Shuijingzhu), the Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing) refers to it as the Huang River, also known as the Cui River.
In the Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), it is written in the original form, with the clerical script abbreviated to the current form. In the Book of Han (Hanshu), it is written in a variant form. The character is composed of the water radical with a frame and the character for child.
