According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it is a type of ox aquatic plant.
According to the Erya (Erya), titled Explaining Plants (Shicao): Jun is ox aquatic plant. The commentary notes: People in the Jiangdong region call it horse aquatic plant, which is the type with large leaves.
According to the Yan Family Instructions (Yan Shi Jiaxun): It is what Lu Ji calls gathered aquatic plant, which has leaves resembling mugwort. Nowadays, this plant exists in the water; each segment is several inches long, with fine fuzz like silk surrounding it, which is lovely to look at, and the longer ones reach twenty or thirty segments.
Also pronounced jun. The meaning is the same.
