Jiyun (Jíyùn) and Zhengshuo (Zhèngshòu) give the cutting sounds kuíjuàn, with the quán tone (去声). Shuowen Jiezi (Shuōwén Jiězì) says it means "to toil" or "labor." Xu Kai (Xú Kǎi) says: "Currently, it is commonly written as 倦." Zhengzitong (Zhèngzìtōng) says: "This character, 劵, is different from the character 券 (quàn) used in 'contract' or 'bond.' The character 券 (quàn) uses the Radical: Knife (dāo), while 劵 uses the Radical: Power (lì)."
