In the Biography of Zhao Chongguo in the History of the Former Han (Qian Hanshu), it is written: The soldiers suffered from cold, and their hands and feet became chapped and frostbitten. In the Biography of Li Gan in the Old Book of Tang (Tangshu), it is written: The skin suffered from freezing and cracking. The annotation states: Jun means to crack from frost.
