According to the Extensive Dictionary of Sounds and Meanings (Guangyun), the Rhyme Collection (Jiyun), the Collection of Rhymes (Yunhui), and the Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced jué. According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it refers to the sound of a musical instrument, specifically the sound of the East. It is now written as the character for horn (jiǎo). In the History of the Wei (Weishu), within the Biography of Jiang Shi, it is mentioned as the musical notes of a scale; here, it is the same as the character for horn (jiǎo). Another source defines it as a musical instrument. Also, according to the Extensive Dictionary of Sounds and Meanings (Guangyun) and the Rhyme Collection (Jiyun), it is pronounced lù. The meaning is the same. Sometimes written in a variant form using the character for deer (lù).
