Mao Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Hand (shǒu) Entry: jiao Kangxi stroke count: 24 Page 465, Entry 02 Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Dictionary of Rhymes (Yunhui), and Orthodox Rhymes (Zhengyun) all provide the reading jiao (rising tone). Shuowen Jiezi states it means to disorder. Zengyun states it means to disturb. Book of Odes (Shijing), Lesser Odes (Xiao Ya): It only disturbs my heart. Guangyun states it means for the hand to move. Poem by Fang Yue: Searching and rummaging through the five cartloads of books from my lifetime. Sometimes also written in a variant form (ku).
