In the commentary to the Quick Reference to Characters (Jijiupian), it is written: The frog is also called the mole cricket; it is green in color, small in form, and has long hind legs.
In the commentary to the Rites of Zhou (Zhouli), section Offices of Autumn (Qiuguan), under the entry for the frog official, it is noted: The frog is the frog that is currently consumed by the imperial court.
