Shuowen Jiezi (Dictionary of Explaining and Analyzing Characters): A head ornament for women.
Yupian (Jade Chapters): Also, a covering for the hair.
Book of Jin (Jinshu), Biography of Emperor Xuan: Zhuge Liang challenged the emperor many times, but the emperor would not come out; therefore, Zhuge Liang sent him a turban and a head ornament, the attire of a woman.
Guangyun (Broad Rhymes): A mourning cap for women.
Haipian (Sea Chapters): Also written as a variant form (guo).
Shiming (Explanation of Names): A cover that is broad and expansive, used to cover the hair. People of the Lu state call it kui, and people of the Qi state call it huang.
Book of the Later Han (Hou Hanshu), Treatise on Carriages and Clothing: The noblewoman wears a dark blue silk headpiece.
