Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun) state the pronunciation is guo. Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) states the pronunciation is guo. Pronounced guo.

Also refers to a state name. Wide Rhymes (Guangyun): During the Zhou dynasty, the King enfeoffed Guo Zhong in Western Guo. During the Qin dynasty, it belonged to the Sanchuan Commandery. During the Wude era of the Tang dynasty, it was established as Guo Prefecture.
Zuo Commentary (Zuozhuan), First Year of Duke Yin: Guo Shu. Commentary: The State of Guo is in present-day Xingyang County. Ying Shao says: it is the present-day Guo Pavilion.
