Tang Rhyme (Tangyun), Collection Rhyme (Jiyun), Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): Pronounced guan (falling tone). Same as the character for being accustomed to something. According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it means to practice or to be accustomed to. It cites the Zuo Commentary to the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu Zhuan) which says: To be accustomed to treating spirits and gods with disrespect. Sometimes written as a variant form (guan). Also written as (chuan).
Furthermore, according to the Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), this term means to wear or to carry. The Supplement to the Dictionary of Characters (Zihui Bu) notes that this is the original form of the character for being accustomed to something. Today, the character for being accustomed is written as a variant, while this form is restricted to the meaning of wearing or carrying.
