Ancient script. According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced cheng. According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it means to gallop straight ahead, or to run. In the Heaven and Earth chapter of the Zhuangzi, it says: Advance freely to reach one's destination, whether large, small, long, short, or distant. The commentary states: This refers to acting with complete abandon, following the path until its end. It is also pronounced chang. In the Daoist Canon Songs (Daozang Ge), it says: Leading the jade guests to the banquet, mounting carriages to ride the mist and gallop. Yellow tallies summon jade talismans, the noble son transports me upward.
