Broad Rhymes (Guangyun): Pronounced cheng (falling tone), same pronunciation as cheng (falling tone). It is defined as a tool for accurately weighing weight. The Admonition for Magistrates of Qizhi County (Guzhiqi Xianling Zhen) states that one should be as fair as a scale. The Imperial Readings of the Taiping Era (Taiping Yulan) records that Zhuge Liang said: My heart is like a scale, and it will not rise or fall at will for the sake of others. There is also the Admonition on Holding the Scale (Zhipheng Jie) written by Yao Chong. It is also the name of a unit of measurement. The Little Erya (Xiao Er'ya) records: Ten jin is called a heng, one and a half heng is called a cheng, and two cheng is called a jun. Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) explains that this is a vulgar variant form of the character cheng.
