Guangyun (Guangyun): Pronounced che. Jiyun (Jiyun): Pronounced che.
Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen): The initial growth of plants. It resembles a vertical line emerging, representing branches and stems.
Xu Xuan says: The character represents the passage between above and below. It resembles the sprouting of plants, passing through the surface of the ground.
Also Jiyun (Jiyun): Pronounced cao. Yin Tong says: In ancient writing, it is sometimes used for the character for grass.
History of the Former Han (Qian Han Shu): Humble officials like myself are without knowledge.
