According to the Tang Rhyme (Tangyun), pronounced pang. According to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), pronounced pang, with a pronunciation identical to pang.
As stated in the Explanation of Simple and Compound Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it refers to the rib area. Some versions are written with the bone radical component.
