Commentary: Light and crisp, refers to something that is light and brittle. According to the Explanation of Text, it is pronounced fu or fu-yao. Both pronunciations are acceptable.
According to the Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), it is also pronounced zui. The meaning is the same.
Commentary on the Rites of Zhou (Zhouli), Office of Earth: The sounds for light and crisp are similar, therefore it is understood that the character refers to being brittle. According to the Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), the original engraving of the character was written with an extra stroke, which is a calligraphic error.
