Pronounced tuō xié (falling tone) in the "Jiyun" and "Yunhui" dictionaries, sound similar to "tiē".
In the "Yupian" dictionary, it means to obey, and to be quiet.
"Spring and Autumn Annals (Gongyang Zhuan), Duke Xi, Year 4": "The soldiers were quieted, and this was considered the king's affair."
Also, pronounced chǔ zhàn (falling tone) in the "Jiyun" dictionary, sound similar to "zhān". It means to be blocked or stagnant.
