Naming Meaning

Kangxi Dictionary

Pronounced ru-shui (falling tone) in "Jiyun" (Collection of Rhymes). Pronunciation is the same as "rui". The meaning is the same as "ru" and "e". Also pronounced er-xuan (level tone), it is the level tone of "ruan". "Boya" (Broad and Extensive) explains it as meaning "zhu". Also in "Yupian" (Jade Dictionary), it is pronounced ri-zhi (falling tone), and the pronunciation is the same as "er". The meaning is "na". Note: In "Yunhui" (Collection of Rhymes), in the Qiyu rhyme, it is pronounced pang-mo (falling tone). The character "pu" was mistakenly written as "e". "Zihui" (Collection of Characters) followed this error, separating the pronunciation and explanation of "pu" to annotate "e". "Zhengzitong" (Standard Character Dictionary) directly considered "e" to be a mistaken writing of "pu". This is incorrect.
