Book of Han (Hanshu), Treatise on Food and Money: When Lu Kuang discussed the liquor monopoly law, the standard measure of one hu was calculated by deducting the costs of rice and distiller's yeast. After calculating the profit, it was divided into ten parts; seven parts were submitted to the government, and the remaining three parts, along with distiller's grains, starch water, ash, and charcoal, were used to pay for tools, equipment, and firewood.
Commentary: Shigu stated that zai is synonymous with starch water.
