According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced zhou (rising tone). Explaining the Characters (Shuowen Jiezi) defines it as pain in the lower abdomen. Jade Chapters (Yupian) describes it as a disease of the heart and abdomen. Spring and Autumn Annals of Mr. Lu (Lüshi Chunqiu) records "the whole body is swollen and painful."
Additionally, according to Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced zhou (falling tone). Furthermore, according to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced zhou (falling tone). It is also pronounced zhu (rising tone). The meanings are the same.
