Pronounced zheng (level tone). Explained in the "Erh Ya" (Erya) as: a curved and twisted rope. Another explanation refers to the taut sound of a zither string. The "Xiao Er Ya" (Xiao Erya) states: bent and twisted is called zheng. The "Lei Pian" (Leipian) records: zheng, sometimes also written as qing.
