Xu Collection, Middle Volume. Radical: Blue (qīng). Kangxi Strokes: 13. Page 1381, Entry 27. Sea of Documents (Pianhai): Pronounced zhen. When Taishang Laojun manifested in Bozhou, Zhang Daozhong added a commentary stating: This character is composed of the elements one, stop, master, and moon. What is called upright is the same as the meaning of true; one and stop combined form the word upright. Master refers to the act of injecting; injecting into moon forms the word blue. Blue is the color of the east, the head of the five directions, and the beginning of the four cardinal points. Upright means true. If a person can practice the path of truth without becoming stained by evil or distorted influences, it serves as the foundation for becoming an immortal.
